In October 2024, an application to regulate the profession of massage therapy in Alberta was formally submitted to Alberta Health.
Since that time, the Alberta Working Group for the Regulation of Massage Therapy has remained in ongoing communication with the Ministry of Health as the application continues to move through the government review process. As with all regulatory applications, this review involves multiple stages of assessment and consultation within government.
While there are currently no new milestones to report, advocacy and ongoing communication with the Ministry is being advanced collaboratively through the Alberta Working Group which includes representatives from CMMOTA, CRMTA, MTAA, and NHPC.
The Alberta Working Group remains committed to supporting a thoughtful and collaborative regulatory process that strengthens public protection and supports the advancement of the profession.
We will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.
